A Time for Reflection and Resolution

The start of a New Year is a time for refreshment. A time to refresh one's itinerary for the year to come and to propose resolutions for oneself, one's family, and one's business. But it is also a time for reflection. Being that the start of a new year is also the end of the previous one, it is (hopefully) gratifying to look back at one's accomplishments and see just how far you've come since the beginning of 2013.

At Blog Shark Tank, we have seen more success this year than ever before. This year, Blog Shark Tank was transformed. While our Blog was always unique in that we don't just provide updates and boring recaps, we transformed from merely being a weblog on Shark Tank, into a community of entrepreneurs and Shark Tank fans all over the world! With our newly designed template came a newly designed experience. Each Shark Tank episode lasts roughly 45 minutes. The lessons learned and extrapolated from each episode and pitch we dissect, last a lifetime.

Prior to this Season, Blog Shark Tank had fans. We had fans who read each article, smiled, and went back to doing their daily business. In just a few months since Season 5 began, our fans have turned into followers and have multiplied beyond our wildest expectations. Many have signed up to receive our articles, many have joined our social network groups, and many support Blog Shark Tank by contributing their thoughts and feedback. In particular, there are two new members to our Team who have stood out this year in their contributing of weekly articles more than anyone else: Elizabeth Francois, who by now has shown thousands of readers her undisputed writing skills and ability to give readers a wide perspective on the Shark Tank pitches; and Kirk Helferich along with his class of smart and extremely talented students who submit their in-class critiques to our Blog to share their thoughts on how the entrepreneurs performed. On behalf of Blog Shark Tank and our incredible community of entrepreneurs, thank you for contributing and for making this Blog the success it has become!

With the recent addition of another four Shark Tank episodes to this season, Season 5 of Shark Tank is no where near over. That's good news for us, because it means we have even more time to critique those entrepreneurs and share our insights with all of our readers. In the coming year, we look forward to enhancing our content even further and continuing to share our thoughts with all our readers.

To start the New Year off on the right foot, here is what I propose to all those making resolutions. Les Brown once eloquently said to "shoot for the stars, because even if you miss, you will hopefully land on the moon". When it comes to New Year's resolutions, unfortunately so many of us find that we accept too much on ourselves and all ends up being lost, usually before February (but in extreme cases, before January 2nd). Therefore, I would like to propose implementing my Four-Step Plan to a Successful New Year's Resolution Execution:

1) Craft a New Year's Resolution.

2) Divide it in half.

3) Divide it in half again.

4) Motivate yourself to accomplish the quarter.

It may seem easy or insufficient, but it works. It's worked for me and it's worked for many people that I can attest to.

But do yourself a favor.

In the words of Mark Cuban, "work like there is someone working 24 hours a day to take it all away from you".

And don't ever give up.

Have a wonderful and successful 2014!
